He Lived Loudly

He lived loudly,
and with great pride!
He injected energy into everyone around him
with fervent smiles and handshakes, funny stories,
and a unique exuberance for life.
People for miles in every direction knew his name.

He lived softly,
when it came to children,
wiping tears and holding hands.
And not just his own children --
from miles around they flocked
to his warm and generous spirit,
full of humor, tinged with mischief.

He lived hard,
stretching his body to the very limits,
until finally it began to fail him.
But everything kept whirring by
as he was in the decrescendo of his life.
And when he rarely left the house,
the world began to forget.

And then, when there was nothing more to say...
He quietly left.

And life roared on
and the world forgot,
but we did not.

We did not. ~

In loving memory...
